Very dull and seemingly pointless

I don't mind slow films or slow-burners, as long as they build to to something or the characters are interesting. That wasn't the case with this film.

The only good thing thing about this film is the soundtrack by Biffy Clyro. But nothing really happens in this film. Even our main character is boring. She doesn't feel like an actual person, but like a cipher. Pretty much all you learn about her is that she's an art student and depressed over the recent death of her father. Laura Harrier, who plays the lead, while very pretty, is really flat and wooden here. I'm unsure if it's because she's a bad actress or because of bad direction from the director or the bad writing. On that last point, the writing really dooms this film. So much of the dialogue is cheesy, stilted, and pretentious. And the cinematography is uninspired.

I don't really understand how or why this film was made. Maybe it's because the lead actress is well-known and her being in the film made sure the director secured financing. But this was just such a waste of time.

If you're a Biffy Clyro fan, maybe this film is worth checking out. Or maybe just check out the soundtrack.

Stay for the soundtrack and little else

I'm a huge Biffy Clyro fan, and, like many others who watched this I suspect, that's the only reason I did so.

I don't really understand why they're connected with this project. I'm thrilled we've got 15 new Biffy songs, just a slight shame the film the score is inspired by/written for is just a bit dull.

Ultimately I guess I just didn't believe in the characters, their performances or the storyline.

If I had to pick out a stand out performance, or at least the character I connected to the most is Bria Vinaite, who plays Hannah. She's amusing and provides a bounciness to the uninspired script, but it is clutching at straws I'm afraid.
