I didn't do it.

The opening scene we see sort of a rape of Elizabeth (Anais Almonte). From one angle a man is on her back and from another angle we see her back with no one on it. I would like to think this was a deliberate effect and not bad camera work. We next see Elizabeth get up and stab her husband David McMichaels (Julian Gavilanes) claiming it was an intruder. She is carted away, charged with first degree murder, and sent to Bellguard for evaluation by Dr. Collins (Irene Glezos). Dr. Collins makes some headway and Elizabeth bonds with her orderly Hank (Billy Hartmann). When the new head doctor (Olgierd Minkiewicz), Elizabeth goes into a panic mode. At a VA get together they mention a drug called "War Candy" and it isn't hard at that point to put all the pieces together.

The acting was hit or miss. The sound manged to record the echo effect of rooms which didn't add anything to the film. The film was dull in how it was constructed.

Guide: No sex or nudity. I don't recall any swearing.

Under the Influence

"Delusional" was intriguing conceptually as a dynamic young woman is falsely accused of brutally stabbing her husband, a war hero. She is then placed in a mental institution where a determination will be made as to whether she is competent to stand trial.

Unfortunately, the good promise was not fulfilled in large part due to the crude production values. There was an amateur feel to the film with sluggish pacing and awkward jump cuts between scenes. The look was that of a COVID film with actors practicing social distancing that did not resemble realistic interactions.

The best part of the film was the character of the male nurse, a former Marine orderly, Lance Corporal Carl Higgins. The compassion he felt for Bess was palpable. The most moving scene was their farewell at the end.

The film's narrative design was far-fetched, especially in the appearance of the strange Dr. Harper. There was too much clumsiness with such details as the lab work that would have been mandatory for the court appearance of Bess. It was ironic that the prosecuting attorney wanted Bess to stand trial, which is precisely what the diabolical doctor wanted to avoid. Hence, the attempt to make it appear as if Bess was constantly "under the influence."

This was a commendable amateur effort at filmmaking. Despite the likable cast, there were too many plot holes and loose ends.

Skip it.

This is awful.

Story is flat. It keeps you guessing because they wont advance it for most of the movie. When you get the points, its just a regular non-interesting plot. Pretty obvious at it.

The acting ? Awful. The leads cant act. Some of the supporting actor are better, but overall, its like watching a school play.

I watched because i was intrigued by the rating. And as it is usually with these movies, they start with a really high rating then get rapidly downgraded as people without interests in the production start rating it.

Dont waste your time. Plenty of good movies to watch. This is not one of them.
