Not an epic, but good fighting

I wouldn't get near giving this a 10 .. but i also wouldn't call it the worst Martial Arts movie that i have ever seen (and I've seen a bunch). Since the main listed actor did the directing etc too, I'm guessing this was a project of passion, but the dude sure has a mean kick.

Low budget obviously, and a pretty weak plot and average acting, but still worth a watch for the fight Choreography. I didn't think that i would make it thru the whole movie but i did .

Filmed with multiple cameras, most simulating some kind of CCTV cameras which is an interesting choice.. seems to work with the plot.

So yeah .. worth at least one watch, but don't look for many Oscars in its future.

EDIT: When i wrote this i wasn't quite finished with the movie.. now that i am .. the ending actually caught me off guard.. it was very well done.

Some OK fight scenes but the rest..??!!

There are plenty of martial arts scenes but you'll have to wait 20 minutes before the first fight starts. During those 20 minutes our 'heroes' get tangled into a "Die Hard with A Vengeace / 12 Rounds" script that's totally unconvincing in which the characters do the most stupid things.

'Unconvincing' is also a word you could choose when it comes to the acting, but that would be an understatement. The cast is terrible and painful to watch. Most of them are martial artists, not actors and that really shows. Besides the fight scenes everything is below standard, the story, the music, the lightning. The shoot out scenes are laughable and badly choreographed.

When one of their friends die we're supposed to have an emotional scene but it's unintentionally funny, just straight out bad.

Is the martial arts in "Die Fighting" that special ? Well, it's not bad and some scenes are certainly worth enduring the rest of the film. But "Die Fighting" isn't a good film because everything else kind of .. sucks.

Don't expect anything epic when it comes to the martial arts. This certainly isn't in the same league as "Kiss of the Dragon", "Ong Bak", "The Raid", "Martial Outlaw", "Lionheart" etc. Expect something like that and you'll be disappointed.

The fight scene between Van Damme and Bolo Yeung in "Double Impact" is 1000 times better than anything in this film. If you're a martial arts fan and missed one of the titles above, go watch that instead..
