If you would like reassurance that your testosterone makes you an unrivaled killing machine, this is the documentary for you. A thousand pound female crocodile will be described as being sensitive and caring, with sensitive skin and compassion, but the crap-scattering tail of a hippo is an intimidating adaptation.
The camera work is nice, but they overdo the use of extreme slo-mo, and add horror movie cries and screams over it for dramatic effect. Want to see an eagle take a full minute to move ten feet down a river while a Banshee screams in the background? This is the awful documentary for you.
Oh, and they spend a solid three minutes showing a partially disemboweled baby hippo at the end. This was the WORST.
Plot summary
Hippos and crocs have lived side by side for millennia, but are they cozy bedfellows or arch-enemies? One is a hefty herbivore, the other is the most successful freshwater predator on the planet, so how do they manage to survive together in the same habitat? They each have a unique arsenal of attributes honed by centuries of evolution; muscle power, bite force and ferocious dentition give them the edge in their environment. But once a year, their peaceful semi-aquatic existence turns into a battle for survival.

Testosterone fueled killing machine
Mostly good with a terrible flaw
When the narrator called the hippopotamus "amphibious", I knew this so-called documentary was pure baloney. National Geographic, where are your standards? Do you even know what that means anymore?
Now I am required to add 404 more characters to make my review valid. Like I require and have to earn validation while National Geo operates in a world of donations, producing crap, and pretends they are something special.
Now we are down to 162 more required characters.
Ok, this had good camera work. It had good narration. It had good pacing. But nothing can forgive that they call the hippo, which is a mammal, amphibious.
