Quirky, but entertaining

Good for a light entertaining movie. Rather quirky with some unusual circumstances and characters.

And it wants me leave a longer review, which is annoying. If I'd known this in advance, I probably would't have started a review. If I say much more than I will end up sharing "spoilers". So, I'll just say it make me laugh and I didn't cry. It's just a fun story without any voilence and definitely nothing serious. I do recommend it to anyone that just wants to watch something light hearted that you don't have to think too hard about it. Not some big mystery or thriller, I need 22 more and it's done.

cute story from poland

No pressure ... in poland... it's "nic na sile". Oliwia takes time off from her job as a chef to look after her grandmother. Of course, her grandmother lives waaaaay out in the country, and her farm is falling apart. There's a handy man nearby, who helps out, but he has other things to do. And she treats him like dicrt... some appreciation would be nice! Oliwia wants to just sell the whole thing, but after spending some time here, will she change her mind? Grandma has gone off somewhere, and no-one seems to know where. Lots of sight gags, farm jokes about goats eating just everything. And she seems to be scared of all the animals. You'd think growing up on a farm, she would know how to grab ahold of the critters and just move them. It's a cute little story, but i think some of the jokes were lost in translation. Or maybe there were just too many sub plots going on. Side businesses. Throw in a case of mistaken identity. It's getting confusing. It's okay. A bit complicated. Directed by bartosz prokopowicz.

"The heiress has arrived."

What you have here in essence, is a Polish Hallmark movie, with apologies to reviewer 'bmvrztvt', as I came to this conclusion on my own before I read their review. The actual idea of the film isn't bad, but it does get hokey with some of the ancillary characters, like the pair of Polish farmers and the female cop Matylda. Yet another reviewer pointed out how the story seems to take place over a couple of weeks instead of the two days Oliwia Madej (Anna Szymanczyk) committed to in order to attend her grandmother's funeral. Turns out that was a con job, and not a very pleasant one if you come right down to it. The simmering romance between Oliwia and Kuba Walek (Mateusz Janicki) felt awkward at best until the latter part of the story, I think it was that bright red lipstick that turned the trick. Hey, I'm of Polish descent myself (both sides), so I'm not making fun, but this was quite an uneven flick. The attempt at comedy overshadowed the romantic angle and the director might have lost focus while attempting to get in a lick about global warming and same sex relationships. For a real treat, take a look at the credits list here on IMDb, and you'll be enthralled by the names of all the Polish actors. My favorite is Angelika Cegielska-Swiatek, the actress who portrayed Matylda. Right there is a mouthful.
