Bold but Flawed Execution

Ravanasura attempts to make a bold statement with its intense narrative and ambitious storytelling. The film's strength lies in its audacious approach and the strong performances delivered by the cast. The lead actor's portrayal of the titular character is both compelling and layered, showcasing his ability to navigate a complex role with conviction.

However, the film struggles with several significant issues. Its length is a major drawback, as the prolonged runtime often feels excessive and contributes to a sense of drag. The narrative's attempt to evoke sympathy for the main character in the latter stages feels forced and unearned, given the extensive list of his transgressions. This shift in tone can be jarring, making it difficult to reconcile the character's past actions with the film's late attempts at redemption.

Overall, while Ravanasura shows bold ambition and features notable performances, its execution falters due to its excessive length and an inconsistent character arc. The film's attempt to balance intense drama with a sympathetic portrayal falls short, leaving it as a mixed experience rather than a fully satisfying one.

A decent mass thriller, but not a good suspense movie

Except for some controversial dialogues and predictable twists (and terribly weak screenplay), there wasn't anything particularly bad about this film. It is watchable but NOT at all a family friendly movie!

Suspense gets revealed too soon (in early 1st half, and after that there's no suspense left in the film) Till then we get to see funny mass moments and some songs. For those who strictly want suspense movie, this might be a big letdown.

Highlights:

1. Ravi Teja's subtle acting in a negative shade and screen presence when he transforms into "Ravanasura". Ravi Teja vs Jayaram was like unstoppable force vs immovable object.

2. Songs - Pyaar Lona Paagal was fantastic! Others were forgettable

The bgm and sound design were too good, I loved it! The music director needs more opportunities!

Drawbacks: Big let down is the screenplay and direction.

1. Weak, Terrible, and Tiresome Screenplay. The Suspense was revealed too soon.

2. RT's character arc - lazy attempt by filmmakers here. They want the audience to love the hero, so they give him funny scenes. Then they want to show his evil side, too much that you start hating him. Then they try to justify it with a pale revenge backstory.

It is important for an actor to try both positive and negative shades - so I appreciate Mr. Ravi Teja garu for his choice, but I criticize the director and writer for not giving a proper character arc. To some extent, we can appreciate negative and anti heroic roles, but he's an outright villain here and his antics have no justification, even with a forced half baked revenge backstory.

3. Second half could've been faster. The backstory of Ravi Teja could've been shown partly in the first half and partly in 2nd half. This would've been much better imo.

Final Verdict: Not at all a family friendly film due to the direction, nor a good film (bcuz of bad screenplay) but it is a watchable massala film thanks to Ravi Teja, Jayaram, and the sound department.

A decent mass thriller but not a good suspense movie

Except for some controversial dialogues and predictable twists, there wasn't anything particularly bad about this film. It is watchable but not a family friendly movie.

Ravi Teja's acting and dance were praiseworthy. The suspense was revealed too quickly. Even the teaser, trailer, and even the title of the film are enough to reveal it!

It is an A-rated movie so this is not for the family audience. It is a bit too "dark" near the interval but that is what is expected from a movie named "Ravanasura"

What wasn't good about the film is that the suspense got revealed too soon. Not even near the interval, it got revealed in the early 1st half!

Till then we get to see funny mass moments and some songs. For people who strictly want a suspense movie, this might be a big letdown.

Climax was good. But 2nd half was a little slow.

It is a predictable suspense. What keeps you engaged is not the "who?" But "how?" And "Why?"

Highlights:

1. Ravi Teja's subtle acting in grey shade character and his screen presence and comedy timings. His energy in dance sequences. His transformation into Ravanasura. All these show how experienced as an actor he is.

2. Songs - only Pyaar lona Paagal and Ravanasura title song.

3. Although it is completely predictable suspense film, one suspense scene where hero's dark side is revealed was really good and unpredictable.

Drawbacks:

1. Suspense was revealed too soon and also revealed in the trailer and teaser.

2. Dialogues could've been better written. The dialogues are plain and boring. Some dialogues are controversial for being misogynistic. Ravi Teja's character arc could've been better written.

3. Second half could've been faster. The backstory of Ravi Teja could've been shown partly in the first half and partly in 2nd half. This would've been better.

Final Verdict: Not for family audiences. It's the usual predictable massala crime drama film. Keep expectations low and you might like it for a one time watch.
