A Men's Movie !
Tirangaa is a film famous for its hardlined patriotic tones and logical actions throughout. A 90s film with all sorts of defense strategies and techniques shown properly with cautious study work done. Rajkumar and Nana Patekar both fits perfectly as the self controlled senior and blood boiling junior working as a team. Both has one thing in common as said by Brigediar Suryadev abd that's Duty. Both shares quality time of adventures, fun time and investigative experiences that strengthen their bond, makes them brotherlike despite their differences. The duo has made Tirangaa a Men's Movie in all despite strong presence of ladies.
Tirangaa, the word is used in Indian context, implies the tricolor Indian flag, whih is considered the most beloved for all those who loves India. Suryadev Singh is perhaps the most hardcore among them who has fair share in the war of 60s, 70s and 90s against enemies. He meets Wagle, the honest but anger ridden policeman who even dares to loudspeak to the supreme judge of court. Both of them has to combat Gendaswami, who dreams to destroy India. With so many attempts to execute this, his plan fails at each time making it a satisfying watch where good wins constantly without a single defeat. And within this dog cat race, few subplots including little romance between wagle and shanti, issues of Gendaswami's son and his girlfriends also put there to spice things up. The antagonies are not fearful rather are funny mindless guys who makes silly mistakes and dreams bigger than the big. When all of these becomes enough then finally Suryadev Singh finally attacks Gendaswami and finishes him in worst possible manner. It also had the missile twist which is entertaining too.
Rajkumar' one liners, who wears a neck band of indian flag and Wagle's opinion about corrupt practices are so still satisfying. The song Pi ley Pi ley reminds of the brotherhood of Indian defense society. The film is simply executed with some updated technologies of 90s, with optimistic tone throughout. And that's a plus point. It's an entertaining film as well as a film depicting patriotism and the life of people who serve or seeks to serve their nation than anything else.
A 72/100.
A praiseworthy movie !
Its a good patriotic movie. Though a little noisy. Rajkumar and Nana patekar is bright light of the movie. Both are still reminiscent, esp about a man's life of duty. The story is well built and roles offered are also meaningful to the movie.
The songs are fine esp, PI LEY PI LEY, well reflects the man's party. It seems keeping aside all the worries of his world and be one with brotherhood. Thats still delightful. Also romantic themes finds little place in patriotic stories and this is well maintained in it. It shows a little or almost non existent romance between Wagle and Shanti. Thats good.
The intelligentsia and its related elements makes more sense than today's movies. Its a movie made 20 years ago and the developement of defense strategies being portrayed is believable. It still seems rational. Though a bit raw in its telling, its praiseworthy as a whole. A movie that shows both unintentional funny one liners plus serious themes about national security, justice and duty. A 72/100.
